Twitter Critter

If you have been peeking around my blog, you will see I recently succumbed and signed up for Twitter. People seem to think this is a fun tool for communicating and building networks.

And guess what? I think they're right.

I resisted for quite a while, thinking it a colossal waste of time and energy. One more thing to suck up my Dedication to Discipline. But in a moment of weakness (and honesty about exactly where, on a scale of 1-10, my Dedication to Discipline actually was), I took the leap.

Here are some of the benefits I see right away:

  • People I didn't know are following me, and I'm getting to know them a bit as well;
  • I've seen for myself that writers write;
  • There's a gentle accountability available to me if I tweet that I'm going to write. After all, I now have witnesses.

It's that last one that is huge. I'm thinking about using it for weight loss as well.

Maybe later.

In the meantime, I'd love to see you on Twitter.

CR: The Best Revenge by Stephen White. So far, this one is going on my Top 5 list for 2009. Cool.

It's all better with friends.

  1. Hi Peg, I've missed checking in on you. Soooo behind in my blog reading because I've started to work. Yep, at 60 I've found my dream job... writing for a local magazine. At this point I've given up fiction writing--at least until I become more organized juggling this new life. :) My crit group of several years has bitten the dust so it looks like everything is taking quite a shift. I'm watching to see what'll happen next. But twitter...Mmmmm, I can find no good reason for ME to tweet.

  2. Great to hear from you, Jess. And congrats on finding your dream job. I know you've probably already found one, but there are groups for magazine writers, who I'm told are supportive and informative.

    As for tweeting . . . magazine writers have followings as well. Might be fun to check it out.

    Can we catch your magazine online?
